40RTY reasons to make your Will #4

Hi there.

40RTY reasons to make your Will No.4 - because tomorrow is promised to no one.

I really love what I do and it comes quite naturally to me; that is speaking to folks about later-life planning, being prepared, slowing down, loneliness and isolation, illness, multi-generational living, caring for elderly parents and ultimately, the death of loved ones. I'm in my mid 50s and since turning 40, my life has been dominated by those things (as well as my nearly 30 year marriage and three sons).

I'm an easy person to speak to about what can be difficult subjects for others to address. I'm also particularly pragmatic about dealing with the death of parents. My philosophy is focussed on the celebration a life well lived as I strongly believe in the mantra 'because tomorrow is promised to no one'.

All that said, what I find toughest to deal with is when I am approached to produce a Will (or Lasting Power of Attorney) in an emergency situation; when an elderly person is in hospital after a fall, when their capacity is and has been deteriorating at a rapid rate, or when finally, the family have decided something needs to be sorted. Unfortunately, too often, it is too late. And at that point, I just cannot help but think 'I wish you guys had come to me ages ago'.

Stop putting it off; contact me, Jules, to start making your Will and that of your parents!

Peace and blessings.
